Apologies for cancelling last week's class and I am now on the mend.
This week we are painting a life model again and so we can continue our exploration of the figure/background relationship so that the figure is integrated into the overall composition of our painting.
Using different brushstrokes can create an overall feel for our painting and defining a colour palette will provide a mood.
Generally our background occupies more space than our painted figure and so it will be crucial in telling the visual narrative of the painting.
On Friday I'll set the model up against the wall which means that we can zoom out a little in our composition and make use of the figure as an element of the painting rather than the sole focus of it.
