I've been out looking for inspiration for the watercolour workshop and found plenty the other day around Waterloo Gardens.

The problem about this kind of subject matter is that I want to reproduce it as I see it and this inevitably leads to a confusing painting!

I suppose the hardest task is to strip out everything that's not essential, so that we are left with an interesting shape or contrast and begin building from there.

Please bring along plenty of images that you can paint from and think of ways the forms could be simplified down to their basic shapes.
