Landscape resource image

I asked you to take some photos that you could print out for Thursday. The main ideas is to think about contrasting forms that would form the basis for an interesting painting. Here are a couple that I have done recently in watercolour.

You can choose your subject matter, crop the image, play around with editing software before you start painting so that you have some idea of what elements are important and which are not. When you start painting it will take on a life of its own and your ideas will change as you go along, but that is the excitement of this exercise!

We'll paint a small thumbnail sketch to reinforce our composition and see how distance can be implied as well.

Add a photo to the comment box to share your ideas for resource images. That way you'll get valuable tips on what might make an interesting painting!
