Course description

In this 5 week course you will be taken from painting accurate monochrome silhouettes to begin modelling the human form using colour. I'll demonstrate how you can use oil paints to "sculpt" the shapes out of the background so that the model is clearly sat in a realistic space. For this you will practice paying attention to the relative contrast between areas of light and shadow. This course is not suitable for novice painters as you will need some experience of painting although the most important pre requisite is a willingness to try and see the "big picture" using methods that may seem illogical. Although my demonstrations will be in oil you can paint in acrylics if you prefer.
