The human figure has fascinated the painter for centuries and produced

some of the most famous works of art in western culture.  The scope of the course will range from techinques to "sculpt" the human form through to the psychology of colour and composition choices.

In this course we will be working mostly from carefully chosen photographs to discover the strategies used in portraiture and human figure painting so that you will increase your experience and understanding of controlling form while also extending your expressive capabilities with paint.

No previous experience of portraiture or figure painting is needed although I suggest complete beginners take the "Principles of oil painting" course to begin with.
